Steiner India was formed to bring the expertise of a century old Steiner AG to India. Today, Steiner AG is a premium service provider in Swizerland that supports the life cycle of real estate: from development to completion and all the way to refurbishment and renovation.
 
Steiner India has been pursuing the premium high-rise sector with focus on construction quality, punctual delivery and optimum maintenance costs on the Indian market. Steiner India exploits the latest technologies to achieve this objective.   This enables the company to provide optimum value creation and value preservation to its customers on any type of structural engineering project. Steiner India is responsible for overall planning, procurement, and structural engineering services at the ‘Lavasa Hill City’ urban development project.   This involves the construction of a completely new city capable of providing living space for 300,000 people. It will cover an area of about 93 km2 in the Indian state of Maharashtra. In addition to this major contract, Steiner India is conducting structural engineering projects in the Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi regions.

Arjun Dhawan

Arjun Dhawan is Group CEO and Whole-time Director of Hindustan Construction Company. With a group turnover of over Rs. 10,132 crore ($1.56 billion), HCC’s businesses span Engineering & Construction, Infrastructure Concessions, Real Estate and Urban Development & Management. The Group has a knowledge asset of more than 2,400 officers, including 1,200 engineers and employs over 20,000 workers at its project sites across India.

Mr. Dhawan has led the incubation of HCC’s Infrastructure business which has successfully developed and operated over Rs. 5,450 crore of national assets through Public Private Partnership with the Indian Government. He was also responsible for executing the acquisition of Karl Steiner AG, the second largest Swiss real estate contractor, for the Group. HCC’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability programs remain an important priority for Mr. Dhawan and he has made significant contributions to Water, Sanitation and Education initiatives.

Mr. Dhawan is an active member of the World Economic Forum and the Confederation of Indian Industry. Within the WEF’s Strategic Infrastructure Initiative, he is involved in helping develop actionable frameworks and best practices to resolve global infrastructure bottlenecks, with the ultimate goal of increasing the supply of well-structured bankable infrastructure projects globally.

Prior to starting his career at HCC, Mr. Dhawan acquired global expertise in the area of investment management across various businesses and industries. As Managing Director of Arya Capital Management in Mumbai and formerly with Trellus Management Company, a $1.6 billion hedge fund in New York, Mr. Dhawan managed material portfolios of equity investments. Earlier with Banc of America Securities, he helped build a proprietary investment group that oversaw $400 million of capital focused on distressed strategic assets. Mr. Dhawan began his career as an Investment Banker in the Leveraged Finance Groups of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Credit Suisse First Boston. His $6 billion of transaction experience covers leveraged buyout, high yield, M&A and equity transactions in the healthcare, media, telecom, automotive, energy and technology industries.

Mr. Dhawan has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics & Economics from Middlebury College and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Arun Karambelkar

Arun Karambelkar has served as the President and CEO of HCC E&C business. He was also on the Board of Directors of HCC Ltd as Whole Time Director between April 2011 and April 2014.

At HCC, Mr. Karambelkar has been responsible for managing business growth through strategic financial initiatives across HCC’s nine market-segments: namely Hydro Power, Transportation, Water Solutions, Nuclear Power, Industrial Construction, Ports and Marine Works, Thermal Power and Hydrocarbons.

Mr. Karambelkar possesses a rich and diverse experience of over 35 years in various industries such as automobiles, engineering and electronics. During his career of over 27 years at HCC, he was involved in the strategic functions of Procurement & Sub-contracting, managing HCC’s construction equipment fleet worth US $ 330 million (Rs 1500 crore). The driving force in the application of benchmark ERP practices for Materials Management, he was instrumental in introducing e-Procurement at HCC. Under his leadership, HCC was awarded SAP’s ‘Best Innovation’ award for creative use of their Materials Management module.

In 2010, the Indian Institute of Material Management (IIMM), Mumbai, recognized his contribution to the field of Materials Management and Supply Chain by awarding him the prestigious ‘UNITOP AWARD.’ He is life time member of IIMM since 1982, was a member of Western Region Committee and the National Councilor also. He is also the Vice President of the Western region of National Highway Builders Federation (NHBF).

Mr. Karambelkar served as a Director on the Board of numerous HCC Group companies, including HCC Concessions Ltd, HCC Aviation Ltd, HCC Realty Ltd, Ecomotel Hotel Ltd, Lakeview Clubs Ltd, Dasve Hospitality Institutes Ltd and Dasve Retail Ltd Charosa Winery etc.

Arun Karambelkar is a silver medalist with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Mumbai University and a top ranker in Masters in Materials Management from Pune University.

Aditya Jain

Aditya Jain has a rich experience of over 32 years in reputed Public Sector, Multinational and Private Sector organizations. Having worked across a diverse industry spectrum ranging from Project-based organizations, Manufacturing and the Telecom Sector, Mr. Jain has in-depth exposure to all facets of Human Resources Strategy, Development, Processes and Operations. He joined the HCC Group in October 2007 and has been responsible for providing HR leadership to all the HCC Group Companies with a major focus on expansion, competency development, change initiatives and management. Earlier, Mr. Jain had started his career as an Executive Trainee with National Thermal Power Corporation and was the Gold Medalist of his batch. Mr. Jain holds a Post Graduate degree in Human Resource Management and is a Law Graduate.

Aditya Jain

Mr. N.R. Acharyulu has a distinguished career having more than forty six years of enriched experience and has held various leadership positions during his long stint. He had a remarkable rise during his career, due to his business acumen, project management and leadership skills.

A Mechanical Engineer from Andhra University, Mr. Acharyulu joined HCC in 1970 as Junior Engineer at Idukki Hydroelectric Power project in Kerala. Over the years, he worked on various projects covering all segments viz., Hydro, Transport, Water, Marine & Nuclear/Industrial structures, During this tenure, he worked on various state-of-art mining and tunneling equipments including tunnel boring machines.

During his career with HCC, he was entrusted with responsibilities of heading the Plant and Equipment department since 1991. Thereafter he headed the Construction Engineering and Methodology Group (CEMG) in 2001 for some time before he was made the Project Controller of the Water Supply and Irrigation Projects in 2004. He was then made the Head of Water Vertical in 2007 and later given the independent responsibility of Claims Task force in 2011.

Mr. Acharyulu became the Chief Operating Officer of HCC in mid of 2012 and then was given the charge to head the Sales and Tendering Division, since 2014 with the sole aim to build the order book.

He studied in India, in the U.S.A. and Germany and disposes of a Master of Business Administration and International Business as well as a Bachelor of Mathematics. Ajay Sirohi has worked for many years during his successful career as CFO for multinational enterprises such as GE Infrastructure, United Technologies for Building and Aerospace (UTC), ITT and Goodyear Dunlop.

Arun Kumar Singh is with Steiner India subsidiary of Steiner AG Switzerland from November 2013 as Chief Operating Officer. He is responsible for external and internal business operations and Business Development. Arun has over 24 years of expertise in all facets of the construction industry in which Past 18 years in real estate and building construction. Verifiable track record for the successful completion of the projects through effective co-ordination, building positive rapport with architects, consultants, vendors, clients etc. He has also demonstrated the ability to build and lead effective and result oriented team. In his previous assignments he was heading, TATA housing & Development company Ltd, a Prestigious TATA group company as, Regional head Engineering – West. Arun oversees project development for Total and General Contracts and ensures that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, Quality and safety and in accordance with latest design Arun has worked as Vice president Projects for HCC Real Estate Which is wholly owned subsidiary of Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Limited, a public limited company involved in technically complex and high value infrastructure projects. He has a strong project management and cost management experience with an ability to manage building projects and townships and an assurance of a safe and quality oriented job site. Where he completed prestigious projects like 247 Park, and involved in residential township, SRA projects. Prior to joining HCC in December 2002, Arun has worked for some of India’s leading and most respected companies like Shapoorji Pallonji and company Ltd, Mahindra construction company lts ( M&M group) for projects in MMR, NCR and Chennai. Arun has completed some of prestigious projects in past. some of landmark residential and commercial structures like state of the art 247 park a largest stand alone commercial building, Mahindra Garden - Goregaon, Mahindra Park - Ghatkopar, Construction of New Paint Shop & Assembly Building at M & M Tractor Division Kandivili, Mumbai and construction of the state of art IT office building for Polaris Software Ltd., Gurgaon, Infrastructure Projects and Highrise in Mumbai and may other prestigious projects.

The name Steiner has been closely connected with the Swiss real
estate and construction industries and their progressive
development since the beginning of the last century.
 
Established in 1915 as a one-man joinery shop, the company has become one of the country's leading developers and general contracting companies over the course of three generations   After Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. (HCC) acquired a majority interest in Steiner in 2010, Steiner Group continues with the same high degree of reliability and competence that Steiner has always offered as a partner in addressing the full spectrum of real estate development and total contractor services
